A first: A "Salka" to launch the spiritual and religious momentum of the Moussem Moulay Abdallah Amghar
For the first time in the history of the Moulay Abdellah Amghar Moussem, the festivities were inaugurated on Thursday evening with a "Salka"—a collective ceremony marking the completion of the recitation of the Holy Quran—held at the mosque of the Moulay Abdellah Amghar mausoleum. According to the organizers, this unprecedented initiative highlights the spiritual dimension of this major national heritage event and reaffirms its deep roots in religious values, authentic Sufi traditions, and Moroccan cultural identity. In an atmosphere filled with fervor, piety, and reverence, religious scholars (*ulema*), jurists (*fuqaha*), Quranic reciters, and the faithful took part in the complete recitation of the Holy Book, *Samaâ* and *Madih* sessions, and traditional invocations of the Divine Name "Al-Latif." Organized by the Moulay Abdellah Commune under the supervision of the El Jadida Province and in partnership with the Provincial Council, the Moussem will officially open on Friday, August 7, 2026. The program runs until August 14, featuring *tbourida* performances, artistic evenings, cultural activities, exhibitions, and spaces dedicated to showcasing local heritage. Through this inaugural initiative, the organizers reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the spiritual character of the Moulay Abdellah Amghar Moussem, preserving its authenticity, and establishing it as a venue for promoting religious values, cultural cohesion, and national intangible heritage. On this occasion, prayers were offered asking Almighty God to protect His Majesty King Mohammed VI, grant him health, a long life, and continued success, and to continue bestowing peace, stability, and prosperity upon the Kingdom of Morocco. The Moulay Abdellah Amghar Moussem thus reaffirms its status as a major national event, where spirituality, intangible heritage, centuries-old traditions, and an unwavering attachment to the Kingdom's fundamental values come together.
